GAA

There are two games down for decision in the preliminary quarter finals of the Leinster Minor Football Championship.

The first of this evening's ties throws in at Aughrim from 6:30pm, as Wicklow host Meath.

An hour later, Carlow and Westmeath go head-to-head in Tubberclair.

 

SOCCER

Manchester United boss Michael Carrick has paid tribute to Casemiro, after the 34-year-old's goal helped them seal all three points against Brentford last night in the Premier League.

The Brazilian midfielder opened the scoring in their 2-1 victory at Old Trafford.

 

The Champions League semi-finals get underway this evening.

Holders Paris Saint-Germain are at home for the first leg of their tie with Bayern Munich.

Bayern will be without head coach Vincent Kompany in the dugout, with assistant coach Aaron Danks deputising for the tie.

Kick off at the Parc des Princes is at 8pm.

 

In the Championship, Ipswich will look to take a step towards a return to the Premier League this evening.

Kieran McKenna's side can open up a three point lead over third-placed Milwall if they can defeat Southampton.

Kick off at St Mary's is at 7:45pm.

 

It's understood outgoing Bournemouth boss Andoni Iraola, Marco Silva and Xabi Alonso are on a three-man shortlist to be the next Chelsea boss.

Initial contact has reportedly been made with Iraola's representatives.

Alonso is out of work, while Silva's contract at Fulham expire at the end of the season..

A move is unlikely to happen before this summer.

Chelsea sacked Liam Rosenior after just 106 days in charge.

 

GOLF

Golf's oldest major, The Open, could have the final round brought forward to avoid a World Cup final clash.

The championship's taking place at Royal Birkdale in Southport and finishes on July 19th, the same day as the football showpiece in the USA.

 

RACING

The Punchestown National Hunt Festival begins today with the first of eight races going to post at 2:30pm.

Kfm will have previews, interviews and every race commentary in association with Ace Casino, 1, Dublin Rd., Kildare Town.

The Kfm team will broadcast live from the track today in association with Dooley Insurances, Millenium Park, Naas.
