Tuesday Morning Sports Update

Keeping you up to date on soccer, rugby, tennis and racing.

SOCCER

Shamrock Rovers needed a late winner from Enda Stevens to see off Bohemians in the SSE Airtricity Men's Premier Division last night.

That 2-1 win at Dalymount Park moves the defending champions five points clear of second-placed St Pats in the table.

The top two square off this Friday at Tallaght Stadium.

Derry City are now winless in six league games, following a nil-all draw at home to Shelbourne.

The Republic of Ireland men's squad will train in Abbotstown today ahead of Thursday's friendly with Qatar at the Aviva Stadium.

Jack Moylan, Dara O'Shea, and Caoimhin Kelleher have been recalled to the squad for that match, but won't travel to Montreal for next week's game against Canada.

Middlesbrough duo Alan Browne and Alex Gilbert are ruled out with injury, as is Strasbourg defender Andrew Omobamidele.

It's understood Juventus have made a move for Andy Robertson in an attempt to rival Tottenham's interest in the defender.

The Italian club are keen to sign the Scotland international, whose Liverpool deal expires this summer.

Spurs, who targeted him in January, are still believed to be in pole position for the 32-year-old's signature.

RUGBY

Mack Hansen has been ruled out of Ireland's games in the inaugural Nations Championship this summer.

The winger has missed much of the season with a persistent foot injury, and hasn't played since December.

Ireland face away trips to Australia, Japan and New Zealand this July.

TENNIS

Aryna Sabalenka begins her latest attempt to claim a first-ever French Open crown this morning.

The World Number one is up against Spain's Jessica Bouzas Maneiro on Court Philippe-Chatrier.

Elsewhere today at Roland Garros, Coco Gauff has a first-round encounter with fellow American, Taylor Townsend.

In the men's draw, top seed Jannik Sinner takes on French wildcard Clément Tabur.

RACING

There's an eight-race card over jumps at Ballinrobe this evening, with the first going to post at 4.55pm.

A seven-race card on the all-weather at Dundalk gets underway twelve-minutes later.
