SOCCER

France and Spain do battle tonight in the first semi-final of the 2026 World Cup.

The French are bidding to make a third successive decider - but Spain were 2-1 winners when the two sides met in the semi-finals of Euro 2024.

Kick-off in Dallas is at 8pm - Irish Time.

Declan Rice has been passed fit to start England's semi-final against Argentina in Atlanta tomorrow

The Arsenal midfielder had been suffering with a stomach bug last week, and was subbed off at half-time in their quarter-final win over Norway.

He took full part in behind-closed-doors training yesterday.

Here at home, Shamrock Rovers are set to welcome captain Pico Lopes back for their Champions League qualifier this evening.

Stephen Bradley's side play the home leg of their tie against Floriana, having lost the reverse fixture 2-0 last week.

That game gets underway at Tallaght Stadium from 8pm.

RUGBY

The Ireland under-20s survived a late surge to beat Fiji at the Junior World Championships last night.

Andrew Browne's side held on for a 24-19 win in Georgia, with two Irish players among the five sinbinned during the game.

They'll now face Italy in Saturday's ninth-place play-off final.

CYCLING

After a rest day yesterday, defending champion Tadej Pogacar will wear the yellow jersey for Stage 10 of the Tour de France.

There are six categorised climbs on the 166-kilometre route from Aurillac to Le Lioran.

Sunday's ninth stage was shortened by 30 kilometres due to a red heatwave alert in France.

Ben Healy is 106th in general classification ahead of today's action.

ATHLETICS

There's Irish interest in the Hungarian Athletics Grand Prix this evening.

Cian McPhillips will take part in the men's 800-metres.

While Nick Griggs is in the field for the 3000-metres in Budapest.
