The celebrations are continuing across Mayo as the All-Ireland football champions returned home with Sam Maguire last night.

Tens of thousands of supporters greeted the team at their homecoming at Hastings Insurance McHale Park.

They ended a 75-year wait for Sam by beating Kerry in Sunday's final - it's their fourth-ever All-Ireland title.

SOCCER

Shamrock Rovers are 2-0 down heading into the return leg of their Champions League qualifier tie tonight.

They welcome Ararat-Armenia to Tallaght Stadium, with a place in the third qualifying round on the line.

Kick-off this evening is at 8pm.

It's understood Roberto Mancini is the frontrunner to return as Italy's new head coach.

Italian Football Federation president Giovanni Malago is now leading the search following the reported exit of Paolo Maldini as technical director.

He, alongside advisor Leonardo, is believed to have quit after the national team decided against appointing Andrea Pirlo due to concerns about his links to a Russian gambling firm.

Mancini was at the helm when Italy became European champions in 2021.

GOLF

Anna Foster has qualified for this week's Women's Open at Royal Lytham and St Annes after coming through a Final Qualifying yesterday.

The Dublin golfer earned her place at the final Major of the year via an eight-player playoff at St Annes Old Links.

She'll join Leona Maguire and Kildare's Lauren Walsh in teeing up in the first round at the Lancashire course on Thursday.

RACING

The Colm Quinn BMW Mile Handicap is the feature on Day Two of the Galway Races.

The first in an eight-race card at Ballybrit goes to post at 4.40pm.
