David Clifford will have to fend off competition from Mayo duo Ryan O'Donoghue, and Jack Carney for the 2026 Footballer of the Year Award.

The Kerry forward is in the shortlist released this morning, hoping to claim the honour in back-to-back seasons.

All-Ireland champions lead the All Stars nominations, with 11 candidates in the 45-player shortlist.

Mayo's Darragh Beirne and Kobe McDonald, and Louth's Dara McDonnell are the Young Footballer of the Year nominees.

The shortlist for the hurling All-Stars will be announced tomorrow, with the awards ceremony slated for October 30th.

The Camogie Association has proposed January 2028 as the new target date for integration.

A letter from the body was reportedly circulated to county boards over the weekend, suggesting the new date of delivery for the merger of all three Gaelic Games bodies.

The Steering Group for Integration met for the first time yesterday, following Mary McAleese's resignation as chair earlier this month.

The Israel FA has accused Republic of Ireland manager Heimir Hallgrimsson of "ignorance, hypocrisy and stupidity."

Ireland begin their Nations League campaign against Kosovo this Thursday, before facing Israel in the Hungarian city of Debrecen on Sunday.

Hallgrimsson last week described the upcoming games against Israel as "playing against genocide."

Bohemians say they will save around 400-thousand euro by deferring their departure from Dalymount Park.

The club have confirmed they will play at the Phibsborough ground until mid-May next year.

They had been due to leave at the end of this season, ahead of major redevelopment works beginning in 2027.


BOXING

More Irish boxers could secure medals at the European Elite Championships in Sofia today.

Flyweight Daina Moorehouse is first up, against Spanish fighter Laura Fuertes Fernandez at around half 11 Irish time.

The winner will go through to the semi-finals, guaranteeing at least a bronze medal.

Jack Marley is in heavyweight quarter-final action this afternoon against Georgia's Georgii Kushitashvli.

Evelyn Igharo faces England's Chantelle Reid in the last-eight of the light-middleweight category.

While reigning world middleweight champion Aoife O'Rourke gets her campaign underway today - she jumps in at the quarter-final stage, taking on Agata Kaczmarska of Poland.

O'Rourke's sister Lisa battles England's Emily Asquith in the quarter-finals of the light-heavyweight.
