Davy Fitzgerald says he's made a "definite decision" to not get involved with an inter-county hurling team for the 2027 season.
The former Clare goalkeeper stepped down as Antrim manager after two years in charge this summer, and says he's rejected a couple of offers from county teams since.
Fitzgerald feels he needs a short break as things had become a "little bit stale"
SOCCER
Tottenham's poor start to the season continued last night, after being dumped out of the English League Cup by Liverpool.
Conor Gallagher scored their only goal against Premier League opposition so far this season, in a 3-1 defeat at Anfield.
Elsewhere, Arsenal teenager Max Dowman found the net twice, in a 4-2 win at Ipswich Town.
They're through to the fourth round, as are Brentford, Fulham, and Peterborough.
Sunderland will play their first European fixture in 53 years tonight.
The Black Cats kick off their Europa League campaign by welcoming AZ Alkmaar to the Stadium of Light.
RUGBY
Munster have been forced to recall out-half Tony Butler amid an injury crisis ahead of the new URC season.
JJ Hanrahan, Tom Wood and new signing Will Harrison have joined Jack Crowley in being sidelined with knocks.
Butler, who was released by the province at the end of last season, comes in alongside Charlie O'Shea as their options at 10.
SPORTS FUNDING
The Olympic Federation of Ireland has called for "modernised tax measures" to help their athletes to compete at an elite level.
They're requesting that Sport Ireland athletes receive a 50-thousand Euro tax credit to use during and after their careers.
Olympic Federation CEO Peter Sherrard says many are currently juggling part-time jobs while training to represent their country.
