SOCCER

La Liga champions Barcelona suffered a 3-nil defeat to Chelsea in the Champions League last night.

The visitors played all of the second half with just ten men following the dismissal of Ronald Arujo shortly before the break.

Elsewhere, Marseille beat Newcastle by two goals to one in France, while Manchester City had a 2-nil defeat at home to Bayer Leverkusen.

In the Champions League tonight, the Premier League leaders take on the Bundesliga leaders at the Emirates Stadium.

Arsenal and Bayern Munich go head to head, with both sides on maximum points from their first four matches in the league phase.

Kick off is at 8pm.

Anfield hosts Liverpool's meeting with PSV while holders PSG welcome Tottenham to Paris.

RUGBY

Connacht will be without Mack Hansen for Saturday's hosting of the Sharks in the URC.

The winger-turned-fullback has undergone scans on hand and foot injuries while on Ireland duty this November.

Hansen has only made one appearance for the province this season.

RACING

There's an eight-race card on the all-weather at Dundalk this afternoon.

The first goes to post just before 1:50pm.
