Ante-post favourite Galopin Des Champs heads 13 declarations for Friday's Boodles Cheltenham Gold Cup.

Willie Mullins’ charge came down at the final fence with the race at his mercy in last year’s Turners Novices’ Chase, but has won each of his three subsequent starts at Grade One level.

He will be joined by stablemate Stattler, who was eight lengths behind him in the Irish Gold Cup.

Paul Nicholls’ Bravemansgame Hall after an impressive Charlie is the next best in the market.

Last year’s victor A Plus Tard has had just one start since his history-making win under Rachael Blackmore, he was pulled up in the Betfair Chase at Haydock in November.

He is one of two runners for Henry De Bromhead along with Minella Indo, winner of the race in 2021 but a distant second to his stablemate 12 months ago.

The Champion Chase is the feature on the second day of the Cheltenham Festival.

The race will feature a battle between last year's winner, Energumene and Edwardstone.

Today's card includes three other Grade Ones.

The first of those - the Ballymore Novices Hurdle - gets the action underway at half one.

Liverpool have a 'one per cent' chance of overcoming Real Madrid in their Champions League last 16 tie, according to manager Jurgen Klopp.

The Merseysiders trail 5-2 after the first leg at Anfield.

Kick off tonight at the Bernabeu is at 8pm.

At the same time, Napoli take a 2-nil lead to Eintracht Frankfurt.

Brighton can boost their hopes of finishing in the Premier League's top four tonight.

They play Crystal Palace, knowing a win will move them level on points with sixth-placed Liverpool.

Southampton host Brentford. A win will move the Saints out of the bottom three.

Locally, in the Leinsster Senior League tonight, Newbridge Town play Inchicore Athletic at 7.45 in Station Rd.

A crucial 3 points up for grabs for both sides

Inchicore are 4th in the Sunday Division 1A table on 32 points.  Newbridge Town are 6th on 25 points.

In the Major Sunday Division, Ballyoulster Utd are away to Leicester Celtic, also at 7.45

Munster Rugby has confirmed it plans to build a new Centre of Excellence in Limerick.

Under the plans, there will be an indoor full-size pitch, as well as an outdoor artificial pitch.

Munster say the Centre of Excellence would be primarily used by its underage and development squads.

Kilcullen’s Dennis Hogan will fight in Ireland for the first-time as the Australian-based boxer defends his IBO super-welterweight world title against James Metcalf on the undercard of Katie Taylor's homecoming undisputed clash with Chantelle Cameron at the 3Arena in May.

Hogan heads into his maiden defence of the IBO crown on a three-fight winning streak

His most recent win wasoutpointing Sam Eggington over 12 rounds in Newcastle last October.

He lost out on points to Mexico’s Jaime Munguia in a challenge for the WBO title in April, 2019

After that, he moved up to middleweight to box WBC champion Jermall Charlo, but he  was stopped in seven rounds.

Another Kildare boxer, WBA Intercontinental title holder Gary “the Diva” Cully will also feature on the same card.
