UN says it should be so listed because of the effect of climate change.
Australia's criticised a recommendation that the Great Barrier Reef should be added to a list of 'in danger' world heritage sites.
The UN Committee on Education, Scientific, and Cultural Organisation believes it should be recognised in that way, due to the effects of climate change.
But the country's leaders insist they're tackling the issue and feel the decision's political.
It'll come up for final consideration next month.
Australia says it will fight against plans to downgrade the Great Barrier Reef’s World Heritage status due to climate change, while environmentalists are applauding the U.N. World Heritage Committee’s proposal. https://t.co/DYzF1yGL5k
