Ireland is among five countries boycotting this year's competition

The Eurovision song contest takes place in Vienna this week.

Ireland is among five countries boycotting this year's competition.

Spain, the Netherlands, Slovenia and Iceland are also unhappy at Israel's participation as the conflict in Gaza continues.

The first semi-final takes place in Vienna tonight, with the grand final on Saturday.

RTÉ won't show either of the semi finals on Tuesday or Thursday and will show Father Ted's Eurovision parody instead of the Eurovision final on Saturday.
