Kathy Hochul will become Governor after controversial investigation
New York state will have its first female governor after the resignation of Andrew Cuomo.
Kathy Hochul will now become the first woman to lead the state in its 233-year history.
A state investigation found former Governor Cuomo, had groped, kissed, or made suggestive comments to 11 women.
After the report publication last week, US President, Joe Biden called on the 63 year-old to leave his post.
In a press conference yesterday, Mr. Cuomo apologised to the women, but insisted he never crossed any lines with anyone, admitting he did misjudge some things:
Addressing his 3 daughters Cuomo said, "I want them to know from the bottom of my heart that I never did and I never would intentionally disrespect a woman, treat any woman differently than I would want them treated, and that is the God's honest truth."
"Your dad made mistakes. And he apologized, and he learned from it and that's what life is all about."
Yesterday Governor Cuomo confirmed his resignation will take effect in 14 days, on 24th August.
