2017 harassment case
An investigation has found a former Metropolitan Police officer began a sexual relationship with a woman, while investigating her.
In 2017, John McCarthy was a detective in the force when working on a harassment case against the woman, which was eventually dropped.
The Independent Office for Police Conduct found Mr. McCarthy had borrowed money from the woman, which he failed to declare.
The IOPC also found evidence he never intended to reimburse the woman.
The former detective never declared his relationship with the woman.
