Aer Lingus is insisting its pilots co-operated fully with authorities
Aer Lingus is insisting its pilots co-operated fully with authorities during a bomb scare yesterday.
It's claimed the crew initially did not want to land at a French military facility.
Aer Lingus flight EI 402 from Dublin to Rome was one of nearly 30 flights impacted by hoax bomb alerts across Europe yesterday.
Around 90 minutes after take off the crew declared an emergency while in French airspace.
The French Prime Minister has now claimed the pilots had refused to land at a military air force base, saying instead they'd rather divert to a civilian airport.
Two fighter jets were scrambled and the flight did land at the military facility before being given the all clear.
In a statement Aer Lingus says its pilots 'fully co-operated' with French authorities and their engagement with those authorities has now ended.
However when asked if the aircraft had initially refused to divert as claimed, there was no response
