Germany Agrees To Send Leopard 2 Tanks To Ukraine

The Ukrainian president's been pleading for battle tanks for months, .

Germany will send 14 Leopard 2 tanks to Ukraine and has authorised partner countries to also send them.

It means other countries - such as Poland, Spain and Norway - which have stocks of the NATO-standard tank can now donate them to Kyiv.

The Biden administration is also due to announce Wednesday that it will send the main U.S. battle tank, the M1.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky pressed Western allies to provide their most modern battle tanks, again saying in his nightly video address that "discussions must be concluded with decisions."

Moscow has warned that supplies of modern offensive weaponry to Ukraine will escalate the war, with some Russian officials warning that Kyiv's allies were leading the world into a "global catastrophe".
