Kongsberg, Norway via Google Maps

37 year old Danish national, Espen Andersen Braathen

Espen Andersen Braathen did not appear in court today, as he has confessed to carrying out Wednesday's bow & arrow attack in Norway, killing 5 people.

A hearing took place earlier this morning.

Mr. Braathen will be held in custody, he is currently in the care of Norwegian health services.

Police believe the 37 year old Danish national targeted his victims at random, in the small town of Kongsberg, breaking into some of the victims homes.

Four women & one man were killed, two others, including an off-duty police officer, were injured

Norwegian police say the atrocity "appears to be an act of terrorism".

They said Mr. Braathen had come to their attention in the past, and there were concerns he had become radicalised.

Earlier on Wednesday police had come in contact with him, while he fired arrows.

Rebecca Lisbeth Utgard lives near to where the attacks took place:

Markus Kultima, who lives in the town, says he couldn't believe what he saw:
