Rescuers in the capital Caracas are searching through the rubble for survivors.
The US Geological Survey says there could be more than 10,000 fatalities, and a 30% chance of more than 100,000 deaths, after back-to-back earthquakes in Venezuela.
A national state of emergency's been declared there, with at least 32 people confirmed dead and more than 700 are injured.

It's understood the first quake had a magnitude of 7.2, with an even larger tremor of 7.5 hitting minutes later.
