The Prime Minister has described the attack on his life as cowardly.
An exploding drone attack has failed to assassinate the Iraqi Prime Minister.
The Iraqi government says Prime Minister Mustafa al-Kadhimi has survived an assassination attempt with an armed drone.
In a tweet afterwards he said he was "fine" and among his people.
Seven of his security guards were injured in the attack which occurred in Baghdad's heavily fortified Green Zone area.
He later appeared on Iraqi television calling the attempt on his life a 'cowardly' response to recent election results.
