UK Labour Party: "Serious Questions" Need To Be Asked Of British Chancellor's Wife, As She Claims Non-Domicile Tax Status

Meaning Akshata Murthy does not pay levies on foreign earnings

Britain's Labour party says there are "serious questions" that need to be asked, after it emerged the wife of Britain's Chancellor, Rishi Sunak, claimed non-domicile tax status.

If one claims this tax status, it means they do not have to pay levies on foreign earning.

Akshata Murthy is the daughter of Indian IT billionaire, N.R. Narayana Murthy.

The London Independent claims Murthy saved on her tax bill as recently as April 2020 - when Mr. Sunak was in post at the UK's Treasury.

Shadow energy secretary, Labour's Ed Miliband says it doesn't look good:

A spokesperson for Ms. Murty says she "has always and will continue to pay UK taxes on all UK income."
