The business has been passed down through 5 generations since it's establishment in 1880
Kilcullen's 'Berney's Saddlery', founded in 1880, is the oldest and only family-operated saddlery business in Ireland, specializing in the creation of fully leather saddles and bridles for horses and ponies worldwide.
Still based in the same building where it all began, Berney's Saddlery has been in continuous operation for five generations and will celebrate its 145th birthday this year.
Today, three generations of the Berney family are involved in the business, alongside a team of ten skilled employees who continue to use traditional 1800s techniques and tools, handcrafting each saddle and bridle with precision.
Kfm visited the shop to speak to Thomas Berney all about the history of the iconic establishment.
