15 bags found in the canal and 40 on the Old Caragh Road
55 bags of rubbish have been found dumped in different locations around Naas.
Speaking on this morning's 'Kildare Today', Social Democrats Cllr. Bill Clear said 15 bags of household rubbish were taken out of the Canal, while another 40 bags were found near the Old Caragh Road.
It's understood that personal identification was discovered in one of the bags, so legal proceedings are now to get underway.
The discoveries come after Kfm reported that 182 litter fines were issued by Kildare County Council in 2023, double the amount that in 2022.
Cllr Clear said he doesn't understand how some people think it is okay to throw a bag of rubbish into the canal.
He said more and more people are now reporting illegal dumping.
