2,600 new cars registered in Kildare so far this year.
5,955 new cars were registered last month, which is down just 6 per cent on the same month in 2019.
The Society of the Irish Motor Industry says over 61,000 new cars have been sold so far this year.
2,614 of those are in Kildare, up 11%.
The national figure is an 18 per cent increase on the same period in 2020, but marks a drop of 23 per cent on pre-pandemic registrations.
Toyota, Volkswagen and Hyundai were the top-selling models in the first five months of the year.
