Eighty-two people were killed on the roads in the first six months of the year, and over 20,000 crashes were reported to Gardaí.
The latest crime statistics show seventy-four thousand fines for speeding were issued during the same time.
There was three less people killed on the roads between the first of January and 30th of June compared to the same time last year.

23 people were arrested every day for driving while intoxicated, which is an increase of 8 per cent.
A further 78,000 fines were issued including over 12,300 for the use of mobile phones while driving, over 3,000 for not wearing a seatbelt and more than 3,300 for driving without reasonable consideration.
