A major fire has caused extensive damage to a former industrial building in Athy.
A three county turn-out and up to 30 firefighters from a number of fire brigade units from counties Kildare, Carlow and Laois were called the the scene of last night's fire in Athy.
Several fire appliances including an Hydraulic Platform from Carlow were mobilised.
The fire broke out at the building on the Kilkenny Road, in a former Minch's site, at approximately 2am this morning
Kfm understands that part of it was rented by Tegral Building Products for a six months period in the past, but not currently, thus giving rise to some confusion.
For clarity, the fire did not occur in any part of the Tegral property. Tegral Building Products is now rebranded as Etex Ireland
Gardaí and the emergency services monitored the scene throughout the day.
Residents of the area were advised to close windows due to the billowing smoke.
Roads have since re-opened
No injuries have been reported.
