A woman in her 30s presented herself to Newbridge Garda Station.
A man's body has been found in the Newbridge area.
The discovery was made after a woman in her 30s presented herself to Newbridge Garda Station in the early hours of yesterday morning, following an alleged assault.
She was treated for her injuries, which are not believed to be life-threatening.
Gardaí later attended the scene of the alleged assault - a home in the George's lane area - and found the body of a man in his 40s.
His remains have since been removed to the mortuary at Naas General Hospital, and a post-mortem examination has been scheduled for this morning.
Gardaí say the outcome of the post-mortem will determine the course of the investigation.
