A pilot from the Air Corps issued an emergency call over Celbridge yesterday due to a malfunction in the aircraft's oxygen supply.
The pilot was flying a PC-9 aircraft over Celbridge when an alarm in the cockpit indicated the issue at 12:45 pm.
The pilot initiated a "pan-pan" distress call, a step below a "mayday" emergency.
According to the Journal.ie, the pilot descended below 5,000 feet to mitigate the risk of hypoxia and successfully returned to Casement Aerodrome.
The incident occurred during a routine training mission.
A spokesperson for the Irish Defence Forces confirmed the event, stating, "The pilot safely landed, and technicians are currently investigating the malfunction."
