1.34million people are on waiting list across the country.
There's a four year waiting list for psychological services in Celbridge, according to Sinn Féin TD, Réada Cronin.
Cronin says we are in a state of emergency in Health, with 1.34 million people on some kind of waiting list.
In Celbridge there are 289 people on a waiting list for psychological services.
In Kilcock there are 238 people waiting for the same services.
Speaking to KFM she said it was "an ongoing saga" within the healtcare system in this country.
The Sinn Féin TD commented: “Since I was elected I have been lobbying for proper psychological services for North Kildare.
"And while I welcome the new and long-delayed appointments to the local services, where two positions will be taken up in the coming months, these professionals will have a huge task ahead of them, because the waiting lists for both Kilcock and Celbridge are enormous.
"Having questioned them, the HSE have told me that there are 289 people waiting to be seen Celbridge and 238 waiting to be seen in Kilcock.
"The longest wait time is in Celbridge which is 195 weeks. Nearly four years," she insisted.
"This time last year, the Minister assured me the Celbridge post was to be filled “imminently”.
"But here we are in 2022, the communities are still waiting, adults and children are suffering, with the lists growing.
“On top of that we have a crisis in general practice. GPs are like gold dust.
"Every week I have people contacting my office worried that they can’t get onto a GP list in North Kildare, either if they move here or their GP retires.
"While medical-card holders are catered for by the HSE, private patients are left to fend for themselves.
"GPs are worried, prospective new patients are worried. We simply have to do better by people," she added.
