The single largest allocation locally is €5.614 million for Phase 1 of the Community Nursing Unit development at St Vincent’s Hospital in Athy, which has now reached tender stage.
More than €11.3 million in capital funding has been earmarked for healthcare projects across Kildare under the HSE’s 2026 Building and Equipment Capital Plan.
The investment forms part of a €1.3 billion national programme aimed at upgrading hospital and community healthcare infrastructure.

A range of additional works are also planned across the county.
At Naas General Hospital, funding includes €1.288 million for campus-wide fire safety upgrades, €561,400 for feasibility work on a new 15-cubicle transition unit to help ease Emergency Department pressures, and smaller allocations for a mortuary project and additional CT capacity.
The plan also provides €1.01 million to carry out a "detailed design" of the long-awaited Lakeview Acute Mental Health Unit at Naas.
