Labour Cllr. Aoife Breslin brought forward the following motions at the Athy MD.

The council has confirmed it will carry out upgrading works including installing a roundabout at Bert
Cross, Athy.

Labour Cllr. Aoife Breslin brought forward he motion at a recent Athy MD.

"Bert Cross is heavily used by people who are trying to divert from Athy," she said.

"The engineers have advised that this has been looked into and will be upgraded," she said.

The council has said it intends to develop a county wide priority list of junctions that require improvement due to safety or other concerns.

It is hoped that these priority junctions will be examined in 2022 and a consultant appointed to assist in the development of preliminary designs for each junction.

It said once this is complete planning consent will be sought to implement the schemes and they will progress to the delivery phase thereafter.

This will be subject to funding and resource constraints, it said.

Cllr Breslin has asked the council remove the bad bend on the R415 Road in Nurney on the Kildare
side.
"There have been a number of accidents on this road," she said.

"At this moment in time, there are no plans to remove it and no funding for it," she said.

The council has said in order to address this issue, a detailed design will be required. It said depending on the design, this may also involve land acquisition and relocation of existing services.

There are currently no resources available or funding identified to progress the request.

Cllr. Breslin has asked the council provide an update on the status of the taking in charge of Fairgreen Estate, Timolin.

The council has said the estate cannot be considered for taking in charge (TIC) until the wastewater treatment plant is made redundant and decommissioned after the estate is connected to a public foul sewer system.

It said Irish Water have no protocol to take in charge developer provided infrastructure (DPI) such as this wastewater treatment plant.
