Fine Gael Cllr on the Celbridge-Leixlip Municipal District, Joe Neville, has been elected Mayor of Kildare by the members.
Cllr. Neville takes over from Fianna Fail Cllr. Daragh Fitzpatrick.
He has been a councillor since 2009 and topped the poll in Leixlip in the recent local elections.
Fine Gael colleague Kevin Duffy has been nominated as Deputy Mayor.
