The burst is impacting the water supply to homes and businesses in Kill, Johnstown, Furness Lodge, Newtown Manor, Westown and surrounding areas in Co. Kildare.
Irish Water has said dedicated water crews have mobilised and repairs are underway and are expected to be completed by this evening.
