Calls have been made for reviews to a cycle lane to path in Maynooth, following recent accidents.
Raising the motion in the recent Clane-Maynooth MD meeting, Fine Gael cllr Tim Durkan has asked the council to review the area at Mill Street.
Before Christmas, a cyclist rode parallel to the two to three inch-high kerb, but lost his balance as the front wheel of the bike tramlined against the kerb.
The cyclist, aged 86, fell off the bike and subsequently broke his hip.
Cllr Durkan noted that this cyclist is well-known and highly accomplished.
The injured cyclist is still on crutches, and is going for 10-20 metre walks outside his house.
A week previous, a similar incident happened to another cyclist, although their injuries were not as severe.
"The irony of this is that this family [of the injured cyclist] have continuously brought this issue up of kerbs delineating cycle lanes and footpaths where it's not required", said cllr Durkan.

"It's quite easy to [see] that the cycle lane is red and the footpath is a grey granite colour", he continued.
"No one needs any kind of kerb between the two to delineate them".
In response, Kildare County Council said that a final audit on the Mill Street Active Travel Scheme will be undertaken in accordance with current guidelines and mandatory regulations.
