Elected representatives from the Clane-Maynooth Municipal District are sending a formal letter to Garda Commissioner Drew Harris, Chief Superintendent Michael Buckley, and Justice Minister Jim O’Callaghan, calling for an increased Garda presence in Derrinturn.
The move follows a number of serious incidents in the area — including two petrol bomb attacks last October, and a more recent incident last week where three men threw large rocks through a resident’s front window.
Speaking on Kildare Today, Fianna Fáil councillor Daragh Fitzpatrick explained why stronger Garda resources are urgently needed in Derrinturn:
