It comes as the church built in 1829 has fallen into disrepair, with the windows recently smashed and holes appearing in the roof.
Speaking on Kildare Today, Fianna Fáil Councillor for Kildare-Newbridge MD Brian O Loughlin said that the current owner of the property is living in Cork, and attempts had been made to contact her, but to no avail.
"It's had a few ownerships in the last twenty years, the last owner as far as I am aware, they actually re-roofed the whole church and replaced all the windows."
However, he said that some of the blocks have now come loose and fallen down, resulting in holes in the roof.
As well as this, all of the windows have been "!smashed by vandals".
The council have said that the The Town Regeneration Team has opened a Derelict Sites file in respect of
this property.
