Sinn Féin TD for Kildare South, Shónagh Ní Raghallaigh, has called on the Government to commission a feasibility study into reopening Kildangan Train Station in a bid to tackle growing transport and parking pressures across South Kildare.
She rose the matter directly with the Tánaiste in the Dáil, Deputy Ní Raghallaigh said the reopening of the station would provide much-needed transport capacity for one of the fastest-growing areas in the State and reduce pressure on overcrowded parking infrastructure in Kildare Town.
Deputy O' Raghallaigh also cited the population of Kildangan doubling in the last ten years, with the station being dormant since 1963.
Sinn Féin Councillor for Kildare-Newbridge Noel Connolly is set to bring a motion about the Curragh plains in the coming weeks.
