It comes as a motion was raised at a recent MD meeting
Calls have been made for a road in Athy to become a one-way system due to a number of "near misses" recently.
It comes as a motion was raised at a recent MD meeting to make the L40071, Court Road, Gallow Hill a one-way system past the Clanard Court Hotel.
Speaking on Kildare Today, Labour Councillor for Athy MD Mark Leigh said that there has been a number of "near misses" on the road.
"The carriageway is not significantly wide enough to accommodate two vehicles passing each other safely, this regularly forces sudden stops and people having to pull in to the ditch to evade" causing "significant safety concerns".
"There have been a number of near misses on the road."
The road which is approximately 600m in length is "increasingly being used as a rat-run by HGVs and other vehicles".
He also described current speed limit signage on the roads as "inadequate" with the only speed limit sign located near the stop sign on Geraldine road.
In response, KCC have said that it would be examined as part of the wider HGV restriction project, with some still waiting since 2023 according to Cllr Leigh.
Upon request for interim measures, KCC also said that the engineering team have agreed to meet Cllr Leigh on the site in relation to the road.
