PNPG proposes creating the amenity on a 7,000 hectare tract of land.
A Kildare based group has begun a campaign for the creation of a massive national park in the county.
The Peatlands National Park Group is proposing a 7,000 hectare reserve, straddling the Kildare/Offaly border.
The group, which has presented its proposals to Newbridge headquartered Bord na Mona, includes
Irish Peatlands Conservation Council, Lullymore Heritage and Discovery Park, Umeras Peatlands Park, Wild Kildare, Kildare Bat Group, Butterfly Conservation Ireland and Birdwatch Ireland.
The group says its proposal would compliment BnM's bog rehabilitation programme.
Jesmond Harding is spokesperson for the Peatlands National Park Group.
Speaking to Kildare Today, he says creation of the amenity would benefit biodiversity and tourism.
Jesmond Harding joined Ciara Noble and Clem Ryan on Thursday's edition of the programme.
