Castledermot's Revitalisation "Ignored", Says Social Democrats Candidate

Rachael Wall, the Social Democrats candidate for Athy, expressed deep disappointment today over Castledermot's exclusion.

It's been claimed that key projects in Castledermot have been "ignored".

Rachael Wall, the Social Democrats candidate for Athy, expressed deep disappointment today over Castledermot's exclusion from the Town and Village Renewal Scheme funding.

Despite €20 million allocated for town revitalisation nationwide, she said Castledermot saw no applications for crucial projects from its Small Town Renewal Masterplan.

She said public realm enhancements, heritage trail creation, vacant property activation, green space development, and pedestrian/cycling infrastructure upgrades were "ignored".

"The lack of funding applications for these critical projects suggests that those responsible for safeguarding the future of Castledermot are either asleep at the wheel or have chosen to focus on other areas, blatantly ignoring the long-term needs of the town. This neglect must be addressed to ensure that Castledermot does not fall further behind," she said.
