The award was presented by Kathryn Dignam, wife of the late Christy Dignam, alongside Dignam's brother Brian.

A Celbridge man has been named this year’s Christy Dignam Addiction Recovery Champion.

Darren Scanlon, who has been alcohol-free for over a decade, received the award at the More Than That Festival in Naas last night.

Scanlon founded the Celbridge Boys Club in 2023, creating a safe weekly space for men to connect, support each other and focus on wellbeing.

The award was presented by Kathryn Dignam, wife of the late Christy Dignam, alongside Dignam's brother Brian.

Darren Scanlon's group meets every Wednesday evening at the Castletown Gates offering men a safe space for connection, support, and wellbeing.

Through weekly walks and activities, members share their challenges and victories.
