He was selected by the members last night
Social Democrats Cllr. Aidan Farrelly was last night selected as the party's candidate in Kildare North for the next General Election.
He will replace Catherine Murphy on the ballot paper, after she announced a few weeks ago that she would be retiring from politics at the end of the current term.
Cllr. Farrelly, a native of Clane and now living in Prosperous was first elected to Kildare County Council in 2019.
He recently got re-elected to the Clane-Maynooth MD and received 1,300 first preference votes.
