That's according to publican Barry Flanagan, owner of the Lock 13 gastropub in Sallins.

He said over 3000 people attended a protest today outside the Dail to highlight unsustainable costs and overheads.

It's been claimed that hundreds of businesses are closing because of financial pressures caused by the higher VAT rate, an increased minimum wage and sick pay.
