The house was first opened in 2024
A community house in Prosperous has said it's going from "strength to strength" after opening it's doors in 2024.
Back in 2021, a number of locals came up with the initiative to transform one of the derelict houses in the estate into a community hub.
The keys were handed over in June 2023 and the doors opened in September 2024.
Speaking on Kildare Today, Chairperson of Anne Street Residents Association and Community House, Amanda Reeves said it has gone from "strength to strength", with people even coming from Clane to visit the house.
"We really are integrating into the community, we've worked with other community groups."
Age-friendly lunches, bingo, lunch deliveries for elderly people, breakfast mornings for students of the local school as well as tailored courses on offer for young and old are just some of the resources the house has provided in the last two years.
Ms Reeves also added that they have the first water bottle filling station in Prosperous.
On June 25th, a Marie Keating Foundation van will visit the house:
"It's open to everybody, there's a specialist nurse that comes out with the mobile van, and anybody who has a concern about a lump, bump or mole can speak to somebody in a 1-to-1 setting."
Kfm is also looking to speak to other local committees and action groups about the work they are doing in their communities.
