Local residents and drivers are raising safety concerns over the uncontrolled traffic junction where Fagan’s Lane meets Main Street in Maynooth.
The junction, currently lacking any form of traffic light or signal, has become a hotspot for near misses and risky manoeuvres.
Pedestrians frequently attempt to cross the busy intersection without designated crossings or signals, while drivers report having to “take a chance” to navigate the junction safely.
Speaking on Kildare Today, Cllr Angela Feeney said the lack of traffic control has sparked fears that it’s only a matter of time before a serious accident occurs.
In response to the growing concern, Kildare County Council has confirmed that an area engineer will assess the junction in the coming weeks.
The review will determine whether traffic control measures, such as traffic lights or improved pedestrian infrastructure, are warranted.
