A local councillor has called for an emergency preparedness plan to be established for Leixlip.
It comes as there is currently a consultation underway for the Intel Ireland External Emergency Plan.
Kildare County Council said that itself, An Garda Síochána and the HSE are currently preparing an External Emergency Plan.
The plan is currently out for public consultation with a closing date of 6 October.
According to KCC, Intel's internal emergency plan was assessed by the HSA, and has indicated that it is considered unlikely that any incident scenario will impact beyond the boundary of the Intel site.
Separately, a new Be Emergency Ready booklet is being sent out to households nationwide in the coming weeks, described as "an important national preparedness resource published".
Approximately 2.2 million booklets will be distributed to households from the end of September through to mid-October.
Speaking on Kildare Today, Social Democrats Councillor for Celbridge-Leixlip MD Nuala Killeen welcomed news that the KCC Map Alerter will hopefully be improved and become more functional in the future.
Cllr Killeen also believes the new Be Emergency Ready booklet "will be useful for many families", while also remarking that there still is a "small gap" in Leixlip in terms of how information is disseminated in the case of an emergency.
