A local councillor has called for a bottle bank to be brought in for Prosperous.
They cited other local areas such as Allenwood and Clane who have recently had bottle banks installed, stressing the importance of them for local communities.
Speaking on Kildare Today, Social Democrats Councillor for Clane-Maynooth MD Paula Mulroe said that every local community should have a bottle bank:
"It can be difficult for people without transport to get to a bottle bank."
"They should be in every local community, we're being asked to recycle and do our bit for the environment, but it does need to be easier for people as well."
In response Kildare County Council said that they are happy to engage in identifying a site for a future bottle bank.
A number of conditions would be involved, including access for service vehicles and cars as well as it needing to be set back 50m from residential properties, along with ensuring access to overhead cables.
