Councillor Welcomes Speed Limit Signage Introduced On Road In Ardclough

The signage was sought given the elderly residents who live in housing along the road.

A local councillor has welcomed the news of speed limit signage being put in place for a stretch of road that runs alongside housing in Ardclough.

Kildare County Council said at a recent Celbridge-Leixlip MD meeting that 50km/h speed signage had been erected along the Wheatfield Cottages in Ardclough.

Speaking on Kildare Today, Labour Councillor for Celbridge-Leixlip Rupert Heather welcomed the news:

"It's good news because there's elderly residents in Wheatfield cottages and there's cars flying down along that road, so the more we can do to protect their safety, the better."

Cllr Heather also admitted that there was work still to do in relation to another road between Ardclough and Celbridge, where the issue of speeding has been highlighted:

"There's cars going at speed there, most drivers behave responsibly on the road, but there is a small number that don't."
