Secondary school must close again due to water mains been switched off.
Students and parents of the Curragh Community School were notified this afternoon that the school had to close as the water mains that supply their school had been switched off.
The Defence Forces notified the school that mains water in all areas north of McSwiney Road on the Curragh Camp had to be turned off. This is due to maintenance work on the line whereby work was required to switch the supply from the source that was subject to an issue to another source (located at McDonagh Barracks).
This meant the school had no access to running water or toilet facilities. The school made the decision to close this afternoon.
Last Friday, January 15th, the school was closed for the day due after a no drinking water notice was issued for parts of Curragh Camp - compounding ongoing disruption already facing the school.
