Kildare Wildlife Rescue said "gluetraps have no place in this world".
A robin, initially paralysed from the neck down after a glue trap ordeal, has soared back into the wild, all thanks to the skilled care of Kildare Wildlife Rescue.
A video posted on their Facebook page showcased the remarkable journey of the little robin. 'A Happy Ending for Our Little Robin Friend,' captures the bird's near brush with death and its subsequent transformation.
The footage unveils the rescue mission as rehabbers, captured in action, tended to the robin after its admission into their care.
From being ensnared in sticky glue that had hardened, the bird underwent a meticulous cleaning process.
The staff, over a span of a few days, carefully washed away the glue substance, allowing the robin to regain its freedom.
A spokesperson for the organisation said: "While we know it wasn’t the intended target species, it is still a cruel and horrible faith for any animal. Glue traps have no place in this world. They cause nothing but a slow stressful death for any creature that may find themselves caught."
They added: "Luckily, this precious guy was a strong little character who took everything in his stride. We were beyond delighted to release him last week on a beautiful, crisp, sunny afternoon."
