The application was submitted by Strategic Power Projects Limited.
Kildare County Council is due to issue a decision today on proposal for a battery field on a 4 hectare site in Dunnstown.
Strategic Power Projects Limited is seeking 10 year planning permission for an enclosed battery energy storage system compound.
The application includes 76 battery storage units, each with associated containerized step-up transformer.
The firm also wants to install CCTV on the site, and create a new access point via the L6044.
KCC's planners are scheduled to issue a decision later today.
The development description is as follows:
"a 10 planning permission for the construction of: (1) An enclosed battery energy storage system compound on c. 4,089 ha with 76 No. battery storage units (each with associated containerized step-up transformer), 1 No. containerized control room and 1 No. containerized switch room, 1 No. containerized switchgear unit and CCTV cameras; (2) New site entrance off the L6044 and site access road; (3) Site access road extension to a proposed substation site (proposed substation currently subject of a Strategic Infrastructure Development Pre-Application Consultation with An Bord Pleanála); and (4) All associated ancillary development works.
