The target date for the brewery to begin production is 2026.
The sod has been turned on Diageo’s new €200 million brewery in Littleconnell, Newbridge.
The facility on the 50 acre site will be Diageo’s second largest brewing operation in Ireland after St James’s Gate.
It's estimated it will create up to 1,000 jobs in the construction phase followed by 70 direct jobs once built.
John Lynch, a vocal objector to the planned Diageo brewery in Newbridge, withdrew his objection in April.
The target date for the brewery to begin production is 2026.
It will brew lagers and ales including Rockshore, Harp, Hop House 13, Smithwick’s, Kilkenny and Carlsberg.
