Gardai are appealing for witnesses after a a person's lost their life in a crash on the Athy Road in Stradbally
The single car incident happened at around a 2.45 pm Friday afternoon.
The person who was driving the car was killed when it hit a wall and then went on fire.
Their body has been taken to Midland Regional Hospital in Portlaoise where a post mortem will be carried out.
The Athy Road, which was closed yesterday evening for a technical examination has since reopened.
Gardai are appealing for witnesses to the collision to come forward - anyone with information is asked to contact Portlaoise Garda Station.
